Abbeys and Irish Singing and Irish Humor

Today we took another tour, this time it was of the Connemara area with a visit to Cong, but our real motivation for going was the Kylemore Abbey. The weather wasn't nearly as nice today, though it still didn't rain much so we still have an excellent track record. Our tour guide today was Michael and while he was very interesting he couldn't quite meet the standard set by Dennis in Wicklow... Michael did however sing for us which was great, I got some video, I'll see if I can get it posted for your listening pleasure.

The tour today was just as long time wise as the last tour, but this one didn't feel nearly as jam packed though we did get some amazing photos and see some truly gorgeous views.

We're only about a third of the way through the trip but we're both beginning to feel the effects of our action packed schedule, but I knew that would happen and planned accordingly. :) Tomorrow we have a very chill day planned, we'll leisurely wander through Galway and pick up any souvenirs we still want from Ireland, then late afternoon back on the wifi enabled bus back to Dublin. We have a very early morning flight Saturday to Seville Spain so I've booked us a hotel 5 minutes from the airport.

All that to say we'll likely blog more astute observations during our bus ride tomorrow but tonight we really just want to sleep.

All of the pictures we've taken on my phone are up on Flickr so if you haven't yet I would highly suggest taking a peek at those. We've been reading everyone's comments and have really enjoyed them so keep them coming and if you have any comments or questions about any of the pictures on Flickr feel free to post them here.

Here are just a couple teasers from today from the actual camera....

The limits of Jeremy's comfort with heights... :)   this was at the Ross Erilly Abbey which is just a shell and was clearly built for far shorter people than us...

We've been lucky enough to be in Ireland during Lambing Season which means there are cute galloping babies everywhere, I just ignore folks when they talk about eating them...I've been obsessed with capturing a good shot of a mother/lamb combo but it's tricky because they're smart and typically run away, but I found this one cute either way. They reunited a few minutes later when the fence ended.

From the camera from our day around Wicklow.
From the camera from our bike around Inis More, this is clearly earlier in the day seeing as we're still all bundled up. :)

  1. I HAVE been checking out your photos on Flickr. It's so satisfying to see the places that I helped research for you. Nice to know that my time wasn't wasted. Almost as good as going myself. Mmmm...traveling vicariously - catchy...
