and tried to spend all our Czech Krouns. We had time to kill so Mom
dropped some money on the ground to see what would happen, but the
train arrived too quickly to see the result.
The train ride was nice, pretty scenery, very green fields, forests,
rolling hills, mountains/alps on the horizon. We ate, practiced the
next language of German, played Peanut, slept and made friends with
Paul who helped us with our German and told us about Munich. Turns out
he worked at Epcots Germany when he was in college, small world huh?
The train ride was long and we had some trouble locating our hotel
even though it's super close to the station. The arthotel is very nice
though, our room is crowded but cozy and the amnenities are great.
It's nice not having to lug the bags far. WiFi is very helpful too.
Due to weather and sleepiness we stayed close and only ventured out
for food. Upon Paul's recommendation we went to a Beer Garten
(Augustiner-Keller). No exaggeration, there were three menu items
without meat, not at all vegetarian friendly, no surprise though.
Chris loved it, he got a sausage sampler, Dad got pork sausage and Mom
got meatloaf which was really more like bologna and I got a baked
potato. They had HUGE beers as you can see by the empty mug in Dad's
hand.
We returned to the hotel through the train station to pick up some
sweets and now we're hunkered down. So we haven't see much of Munich
yet, we'll have more to report tomorrow after we the the BMW museum
and local palaces.
