I'm so excited! Since Jeremy's version of excited energy is equal to my version of bored energy it's sometimes hard to tell when he's amped up... but this weekend he started to show signs of excitement about our upcoming adventure.
We both have to work all week right up until we fly out Friday late afternoon and, given our opposite work schedules, this weekend was our last chance to get things done together until we leave. There are so many little details to remember that I don't really think about anymore, but as this is Jeremy's first international trip we had a lot to take care of. We spent our last Saturday before our trip stocking up on travel necessities. Such as a rain jacket for Jeremy, batteries and memory cards for my camera, all sorts of cute travel sized toiletries and a new gender neutral bag (not a purse!). He tried on hats but decided against purchasing one thinking it would make him look too touristy.....
We weather proofed our new shoes and even pulled out all of the things Jeremy plans to pack so I can figure out how to cram his (relatively small stack of) clothes along with my (admittedly larger stack of) clothes into two backpacks.
I started pulling out my Spanish language materials, maps of southern Spain to start planning our driving route (yes on actual paper maps) and even read up on the history of both Ireland and Spain. We gathered entertainment for our plane rides looked at exchange rates and credit card fees. I put sticky notes all over Jeremy's world with key phrases that would be helpful for him to know in Spanish, such as 'hola, buenos dia, habla ingles?' or 'estoy con mi novia' (^_^).
Feeling pretty good about the trip planning stuff, now we each just need to get all our ducks in a row at work so nothing suffers too much while we're out for two weeks..
