Cadiz

The first day in Cadiz I think we both hated it, we were both just annoyed. The hotel had no wi fi, the beds weren't what we requested and Sara's back was jacked up which I hate because I worry about her. The streets were really winding and it was super easy to get lost. We went the wrong direction looking for the beach and ended up at a park which luckily put us near a restaurant that Sara had found on tripadvisor so that was nice. We ordered two pastas that were really tasty but also really rich which we haven't had much of lately so it made me feel not so good. With Sara's back tweaked we spent more time in the hotel room and we found American shows but they were dubbed in Spanish..Trying to watch those was kind of annoying. At night after dinner we finally found the ocean and a nice walk way with the ocean breeze, that was the best part of the day.

The second day was much better. The cathedral was cool but after the mosque in Cordoba it wasn't as impressive. The doughnut we had before the cathedral was awesome. I went up the tower by myself since stairs are bad news for Sara's back. Everyone that worked there spoke English so that was fine. There were a ton of steps so it was good she stayed behind and it was very narrow, just wide enough for my shoulders but people didn't understand how to wait so they tried to walk past me and that got interesting. The camera obscura was in a small room with a big white disc that they would move up and down to adjust the focus the used it to show us different landmarks around town including the market that Sara was apparently exploring while she waited. It was cool to think about the technology behind it and how revolutionary it was back in the day. Then I went to the top of the tower and took some great panoramic shots, there was one tower that you could see from our tower but because of how it's built you can't actually see it from the ground. I wasn't thrilled about leaving Sara alone but I am glad I went up and saw it. Afterward Sara took me to the market that they'd shown in the camera obscura so that was pretty cool to see. It was smelly but it was cool to see the fish getting cut up and what not. Sara co-erced me into trying sushi again  and this time I actually didn't mind some of it.

The beach was really nice break, but I am fully convinced that the beach is the only reason why people would or should go to Cadiz. We also established, even though it wasn't really in doubt, that we are both definitely beach people. Sara napped while I walked along the water and found sea glass and some interesting super smooth rocks, amazingly not that many shells on the beach. :) But enough sea glass to inspire some art projects. Other than that it was pretty much a beach, sand was hot, water was cold, my shoulders and back are now burnt.
