We started off by visiting the cathedral. Well, technically we started off by finding food. Last night we spotted a bakery near the cathedral that was closing but very popular. Today we returned. We got a ham and cheese pastry, a tuna pastry, a chocolate covered doughnut and a coke for €5. We had our picnic on the steps of the cathedral and man was it yummy. Their doughnuts are lighter than ours.
With full tummy's and faces covered in chocolate we ventured in to the cathedral. It's not really memorable itself as it is in need of restoration and, given the age of the city its not all that old. The crypt however was large, old, and really cool. I was afraid we might get kicked out, the center of the crypt was such that sounds echoed and when we realizes this our 5 year olds came out and we dissolved into giggles...my squeaker echoing through a cathedral....not so respectful...luckily no one was around to catch us.
Apparently snails are in season. Now, I've tried escargot before but this took it to a whole new level. The snails were still alive, being sold by large bails at a time and some people walked up and just sucked out the snail right on the spot...still alive! Eww! The market was very cool though, mostly fresh veggies and a lot of seafood with the butcher there ready to give you the exact cut you wanted, I'd love to have access so such a fresh local market daily. Jeremy was smart enough to suggest sushi, I was proud of myself for eating it after seeing swordfish heads on chopping blocks, but it was worth it...so yummy. Jeremy even had some and didn't find it disgusting (like usual).
A few hours later, tan and sun drained we made our way back to the hotel to shower and go back out in search of tapas.
I think I'll try the snails. Only kidding, I don't think I could eat something moving. The beach looked good.
