Since we moved from Cincinnati to Orlando, Chris has been commuting back up to Cincinnati to work. Because the company has him based up north, they expect him to live there. So if he has a trip that starts early he has to commute up the night before, which means he needs a place to stay and mode of transportation to get from that place to the airport. So he got what is called a ‘crash-pad’ where he pays someone to use a bed as needed, this is also why we drove my green Escort BACK up to Cincinnati in February and went to Rock City along the way.
Well, Comair has now transferred Chris over to the JFK airport in New York City. It’s called being displaced since he didn’t choose the transfer. SO, we now need to find time to go up and drive the Escort back. Because the cost of living in NYC is so high, we can’t afford a crash pad up there, so he’ll be sleeping in a recliner in the crew lounge if needed. It’s not as bad as it sounds though because this also means that he will be on reserve (or on call) where he will have 9 hours to show up so he’ll be able to be at home most of the time. Right now it sounds like a positive change, we’ll see how it works out.
